The 1^st Annual Breakfast with the Bench was held September 26, 2011. It gave the Bar a chance to meet the Judge’s staff and new law clerks for the year. Judge Hebert, Division D, introduced Law Clerk Cindy Manuel. Judge Harris, Division C, introduced Law Clerk Corey Gallien. Judge Daigle, Division B, introduced Law Clerk Jessica Whimberley. Judge Doherty, Division A, introduced Law Clerk Amber Gremillion.

SLPBA President LaDonte Murphy spoke to the Association members, saying we want to increase the number of social events each year, including Breakfast with the Bench.

We also want to be more active in the school system, as we are with Law Day. We want to add to Law Day with a speaker series in the high school civics classes. SLPBA Vice President Jennifer Ardoin is the chair of the speaker series. She talked to the members about how students need a better understanding of our legal system. We want to go into 10 area high schools. The last lecture in the series would be on Law Day. She asked for volunteers to give lectures - let her know if you want a specific school!

LaDonte encouraged everyone to participate in Law Day 2012.

He also announced the creation of a Local Rules Committee. The whole bar can submit any suggestions to the SLPBA for consideration, and the SLPBA will submit final recommendations to the Judges of the 27^th Judicial District Court.
